Custom welded steel Deck Frames · fabricated in Berkeley NSW 🇦🇺

A steel deck frame that will outlast every board you ever lay on it. Fix the frame for good.

Most decks die from underneath — timber bearers and joists that rot, twist, bounce and feed termites while the boards up top get the blame. We weld steel deck frames to your exact plan. Bolt it down once: straight forever, nothing to rot, nothing to replace.

Next Step: Tell us about your deck, we’ll send back a real price.

How it works

Tell Us About Your Deck

  • Send plans, a rough sketch, or just photos of the existing deck — no engineering knowledge needed to start. (Use the form, takes a minute)
  • We come back with the right frame design — bearer and joist layout, post positions, stairs if you need them — plus a real price.
  • You approve a drawing before we cut anything, and before you pay a cent. Nothing’s locked in until you’re happy.

We Weld It and Send It to You

  • Cut, welded and finished in our Berkeley workshop to your exact measurements, in Australian steel.
  • Arrives as a pre-welded, pre-punched kit with fixings, ready to bolt together — or collect free from Berkeley, NSW.
  • Your carpenter bolts it down and the boards go straight on. No cutting, no welding on site.
Need stairs? Same steel, same welds, one quote.

Stairs are where timber decks fail first — stringers live closest to the ground, cop the most weather, and rot out while the deck above them is still fine.

  • Welded steel stringers made to suit your exact deck height — no cut-and-hope stringers on site
  • Treads arrive ready for the same boards as your deck — timber or composite, so everything matches
  • Handrails and balustrade from the same workshop if you’re over a metre up — one drawing, one delivery, one quote

Steel Deck Frame FAQ

More than timber upfront — and then never again. We quote the whole frame — steel, fixings and freight to your postcode — so you’re comparing a real number, not a hardware-store guess plus surprises. What you don’t pay for later: rot repairs, re-stumping, replacing joists in year fifteen.

Timber frames rot from the post down, twist as they dry, bounce as spans sag, and feed termites the whole time. A welded steel frame is straight the day it leaves our workshop and it’s straight in thirty years. The boards on top are a choice you make on looks. The frame underneath is a choice you make once.

Not the way timber rots. Deck frames are made from protective-coated structural steel built to live outdoors for decades, and we spec up for coastal sites. And no — this isn’t our rusty corten look. Deck frames come from the clean, coated, structural side of the workshop.

Steel doesn’t burn, so the frame adds no fuel — unlike a timber sub-frame. Whole-of-deck compliance depends on your site’s BAL rating and what boards go on top; tell us your rating (or your street) when you enquire and we’ll flag what it means for the build.

Depends on height, size and how it attaches to the house — as a rule, low freestanding decks often don’t, elevated ones usually do, and every council draws the line slightly differently. You get dimensioned shop drawings with your quote that your certifier or engineer can work straight from.

It arrives pre-welded and pre-punched — a bolt-together kit, not a welding job. Any carpenter can have it down fast and lay boards straight onto it. Low ground-hugging frames are genuinely DIY-able; anything elevated, use your builder.

That’s where steel makes the most sense. Composite boards follow whatever’s underneath them — a timber frame that moves gives you wavy composite and warranty arguments. A steel frame stays straight, so the boards do too.

Yes — that’s half the reason this page exists. If you’re re-boarding anyway, or the boards are fine but the bounce isn’t, we fabricate a new frame to the existing footprint. New boards on a twenty-year-old timber frame is how you end up doing the job twice.

Yes — and you probably should let us. Stairs are where timber decks fail first: the stringers sit closest to the ground and rot out years before the deck does. We weld steel stringers to suit your exact deck height, with treads ready for the same boards as the deck — and if it’s over a metre up, handrails and balustrade can come from the same workshop in the same run. One drawing, one delivery, one quote.

Depends on the frame and the queue. We give you the real lead time with your quote — not the optimistic one — so it locks into your build schedule. Ask when you enquire and we’ll tell you straight.

Australia-wide by courier, and freight to your exact postcode is built into the quote — no surprise at the end. Or pick up free from our Berkeley (NSW) workshop.

Yes to both. Flag that you’re trade in the form (first question) and we’ll set you up.

It’s free and no-obligation. Adam or one of the team comes back within one business day with a frame design, sizing advice and a real price. No pressure, no spam, no on-selling your details.
